The Grant implementation consultants (GIC) assumed overall responsibility for implementing the technical support for the Project, including: (i) preparing and implementing work plans; (ii) coordinating GIC and Project national consultants; (iii) liaising with national, provincial, and district officials; (iv) providing financial management and administrative input; and (v) ensuring timely guidance on following ADB Statement of Expenditure guidelines as well as other ADB rules and guidelines relating to ADB’s approach and methodologies re biodiversity, social development, incorporating of vulnerable groups and others. More specifically, the GIC (i) developed the capability of particularly provincial and district officials to manage forestry and natural resource management projects for ADB; (ii) trained and strengthened communities and institutions in participatory land-use management; (iii) provided technical assistance on forest restoration and protection in the biodiversity corridors; and (iv) assisted national consultants for the Project and train officials who will evaluate and prioritize sub-projects for livelihood improvement and small infrastructure development.
