PRIMEX has been awarded the contract for the Advanced Works for Detailed Engineering Design and Contract Preparation: Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRMP) funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Cambodia and received the Notice to Proceed from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) last 11 September 2024. This significant achievement underscores MOWRAM’s longstanding commitment to advancing the agriculture sector in the region and reflects our extensive experience and proven track record in managing water resources.

The project’s overarching goal is to enhance Cambodia’s water resources management to adapt sustainably to climate change while fostering social and economic growth and protecting the environment. The outcomes will aim to make livelihoods in the target regions climate- and disaster-resilient through climate-adaptive IWRM. The project will prepare the detailed engineering design of the Kbal Hong Irrigation System in Pursat Province, and the river basin group covering rivers Pursat, Svay Daun Keo, Moung Russei, and Sangker.

PRIMEX will serve as the lead firm for this project and is set to run until July 2025. PRIMEX has engaged the services of ARUNA Technology, Ltd. (ARUNA), a respected Cambodian consulting firm established in 1997, as subconsultant.

According to Mr. Ryohei Ishii, PRIMEX Chairman and President, “Our continued work in Cambodia only shows that MOWRAM has remained confident that PRIMEX will be able to carry on this assignment well – as usual.”

The DED work for IWRMP is one of many assignments which PRIMEX is currently implementing in Cambodia. Since 2012, PRIMEX has been working with MOWRAM and has implemented various technical assistance and loan-funded projects by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In March 2016, PRIMEX was engaged by MOWRAM to render project management services for the Uplands Irrigation and Water Resources Management Sector Project, and has been assessed by both ADB and MOWRAM as a huge success, based on its timely completion without the need for extension, the attainment of 11 out of 12 targets 100% or more; and the well-aligned planned and actual implementation schedule of key physical activities.
