“It’s auspicious that the Philippines is now exporting to the United States” – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) emphasized to stakeholders the importance of enhancing the country’s capacity not only to feed its population but also to compete on a global scale.

PBBM sought to boost the fisheries industry by urging cold storage facilities and fish ports to ensure and maintain the quality and safety of fish and seafood and to sustain its contribution to the country’s economy.

The Feasibility Study on the Expansion and Improvement of the GSFPC was conducted by PRIMEX. It is aligned with, and supportive of, the Comprehensive National Fisheries Industry Development Plan (CNFIDP) 2016-2025, the National Tuna Management Plan (NTMP) 2019-2023, AmBisyon 2040, the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, the 2030 Philippine Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the SOCCKSARGEN Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022. The Feasibility Study assessed the technical, market, economic, and financial viability of the proposed GSFPC expansion, along with its environmental and social impacts. It included value engineering/analysis (VE/VA) to identify the optimal design and implementation option, incorporating climate-resilient features and new technologies to maximize value for money (VfM).
