Development Study of Math Materials for Casio Scientific Calculators (Component 1) and Development Study of the Use of Casio Scientific Calculators at Schools (Component 2)

PRIMEX provided the services of a Researcher who performed the following tasks: (i) collected a set of mathematics that are generally used in public secondary schools in the Philippines, which include textbooks, teachers’ guides, lesson plans, workbooks, exercise sheets, and exams; (ii) collect existing teaching and learning materials that make use of CASIO scientific calculators; (iii) identify how secondary school teachers use the CASIO scientific calculators in the classroom; and (iv) read and use draft materials prepared by Japanese experts for a priority sub-topic and provide comments on the materials.
PRIMEX also provided the services of a Researcher who planned, conducted, and analyzed findings of a survey of 15 schools in the National Capital Region. In the particular, the Consultant performed the following tasks: (i) collected information from CASIO Philippines and Department of Education (DepEd at Central, National Capital Region, and Manila city) regarding policies and institutional mechanisms being used by various DepEd offices; (ii) gather information through a school survey and visits to senior secondary schools and teachers; and (iii) prepare an action plan for intensifying use of scientific calculators in schools in the NCR. The local researcher conducted quantitative and qualitative data analysis of the school survey and used the findings to draft the plan of action of schools.
